For Solo Bb Clarinet
Duration: c. 4 minutes
This work for solo, unaccompanied clarinet was commissioned by Linda Merrick as one of the set works for the inaugural Howarth Clarinet Competition.
The piece utilises many aspects of the clarinet players extended technical capabilities, particularly focusing on the use of tremolos, wide vibratos and multiphonics.
Since being commissioned, Oscillation has been performed and broadcast across the world.
Publisher: Queen's Temple
The multiphonics at the end of the piece are notated as three notes, although in reality they will not sound equally, with the upper notes tending to be dominant.
Oscillation has been recorded by Linda Merrick and is available on the album The Hemlock Stone (available on the classicprint label)
